De-Coding the dress code

De-Coding the dress code

The different dress codes – what do they really mean?

With a little bit of help, we have decoded the dress code to help make choosing an outfit simpler.

  • Casual - basically a non-dress code, and you can wear comfortable clothing. For example you could pull our your favorite jeans which you can pair with a tee or dress things up a bit with a blouse or top. You could even replace the jeans with a flowy skirt, on those hot days.
  • Business Casual - this is what many people would typically wear to work at the office. Dresses, trousers with a fashionable top or even a casual skirt with a formal top would work here.
  • Smart Casual - or dressy casual is basically a combination of casual, business casual, and business dress codes, where you can combine them into a "smart" ensemble. It's safest to go with a skirt, or you could also wear a nice pair of dark jeans dressed up with a shirt or formal blouse. Throw on a jacket or throw-over for that extra touch.
  • Business / Informal - Informal attire may be a misnomer as it does call for a bit of formality (not to be confused with Casual attire). Business and Informal attire is more sophisticated than Smart Casual, often signaling the need for suits, ties and dresses. Here you can wear a suit or business style dress with heels (high or low).
  • Semi-Formal - more fancy than business attire but just a notch below formal tuxedos and fancy gowns. This is the perfect time to break out that black dress or classy evening dress.
  • Formal / Black Tie – formal or black tie events are among the most fancy of all dress codes. A fancy long evening dress would be perfect for this occasion.

We hope this helps 😊
